Product Lifecycle Project Management Project control in the product lifecycle

At the Berlin PLM summit in 2007, Valtech conducted an expert survey. The participants of the workshops arranged by Valtech explained their position on the current situation and the aim of their PLM activities. A central result was the growing need for linking PLM and project management topics, which Valtech summarizes under the title "Product Lifecycle Project Management (PLPM)".

Valtech PLPM describes methods and ways of project management and controlling with a specific reference to product structures in the overall product lifecycle.

The aim is the optimization of transparency and comprehensibility for the optimization of planning and controllability in the product project. The basis for this is the mapping of a complete "Plan-Do-Check-Act" cycle (PDCA).

Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle (PDCA)

Linking product/process elements to structures and control factors of project management results in a continuously consistent status control window.

The status control window is created from feedback of "classical" reporting paths and the analysis of operative information, e.g.:

  • Mapping of gateway criteria with reference to the next gateway milestone
  • Consistency checks of parts list
  • Maturity level monitoring
  • Change statistics
PLM transparency
Your benefit: PLM transparency "at your fingertips"
Example: "Everyone talks about maturity level – everyone means something else"
